Abstract

In the case of the light-control circuit, the heating current regulation is carried out via a series-connected switch (1) and the light regulation via a parallel switch which is decoupled via a rectifier (6). In order that the lamp will start irrespective of the value of the inductance of the commercially available ballasts, a starting switch (14) is provided which periodically connects a starting voltage generator (13) to the lamp circuit. A protection switch (15) is used to maintain the heating current in the intact lamps at the rated value in the event of lamp electrodes on the earth side being interrupted by periodic short-circuiting of these lamp electrodes. The circuit is designed such that the series switch (1), the parallel switch (7), the starting switch (14) and the protection switch (15) commutate during the respective zero crossing of the current flowing through them. The circuit is used for illumination regulation in all types of rooms.
