Abstract

The roller bellows are for pneumatic cushioning, and are of a fibrous layered material with two plies. The two layers lie between the cover plate and the airtight bed. Under minimum load, the bellows are not crushed and have maximum radius of curvature. In this condition the bellows becomes smooth and maintains the seal and the angle. The air cushioning system lessens the possibility of sudden shifting of the drive assemblies of vehicles. Horizontal movement and slight changes of alignment are, however, not prevented. The space occupied can be greatly reduced, and the installation can also be lowered and raised.
