Abstract

An additive for liq. hydrocarbon fuels comprises (a) 33-57.5 (pref. 44.31-54.0) vol.% of a halogenated aromatic cpd., (b) 20-30 (pref. 21.60-25.31) vol.% of an aliphatic ketone, (c) 20-30 (pref. 21.6-25.31) vol.% of an aromatic amine, (d) 2-5 (pref. 2.16-3.80) vol.% of an organic phosphate, and (e) 0.5-2 (pref. 0.64-1.27) vol.% of a phenol. The additive can be used in gasoline, diesel oil, fuel oil or jet fuel. It reduces fuel consumption and increases combustion efficiency. In the case of IC engines in motor vehicles, it gives increased BHP. A typical additive contains dichlorobenzene, diisobutyl ketone, aniline, tri xylyl phosphate and xylenol.
