Abstract

Anaeobic fermentation digester is intended for organic matter which has previously undergone aerobic fermentation and for the prodn. of methane. It comprises a two-compartment, insulated enclosure; the compartment only communicate at their upper portions. The material delivered by a transporter is tipped into an aerobic pre-fermentation enclosure; this has upper and lower grids where it is watered with liq. manure from a cistern; this has been pr-fermented any any excess is a turned via a pipe. Compressed air is introduced under the grids, into a hopper compartment where an active, aerobic fermentation develops. The resulting high temp. destroys most of the pathogenic germs. When pre-fermentation is complete, the material is diluted with liq. from a compartment (I). Removal of grid allows the material to descent into the upper where it is disintegrated and then introduced into the upper part of end into the hopper where it is disintegrated and then introduced into the upper part of (I) by the pump. here the hot matter becomes immersed in a (I) by the pump. A portion, assisted by a rake, overflows into a compartment joined with (I) at its top; fermentation progresses and the decomposed matter is deposited on the bottom. Rapid and regular fermentations are obtd. while keeping the micro-organisms responsible under the best working conditions.
