Abstract

The bicycle pedal is made of e.g. cast aluminium alloy, has a flat plate (1) forming the foot support surface, with a boss (3) underneath for the spindle (2). This boss is shorter than the plate, so that the plate overhangs the end of the spingle considerably. A plan bearing can be force fitted into each end of the boss, for the spindle. The spindle has an integral collar (6) at the end which screws into the crank, and a headed member (8) screws into the other end of the spindle. A flange (15) extends downwards across the front of the flat plate (1) with screw holes (16) through it for attachment of a toe clip. Two longitudinal ribs (19) underneath, extending to the boss (3), have slots (21) for the straps of the toe clip.
