Abstract

Electronic systems on motor vehicles are used for such purposes as ignition timing and fuel injection. Detectors for these systems require precise spacing between fixed and moving parts of the detector and this is performed using a sticky spacer of correct thickness. A proximity detector (1) is mounted with its active face (11) at a small distance (e) from a vehicle flywheel (2) having openings for location of the angular position of the engine crankshaft. The detector is mounted by a screwed (5) clamping sleeve (4) on a plate (7) clamped (9) in a casing (8). A spacer (12) of correct thickners is glued to the active face of the detector to permit its location for clamping Initial rotation of the flywheel unsticks the spacer.
