Abstract

The unit comprises a number of metal sheets which are so shaped as to be in contact with each other at different intervals over their entire length, so as to form a series of passages (14) between them. Means are provided for delivering a mixture of air and gas to one side of the assembly. From here it flows through the passages and is ignited (15) at the other end. The unit can comprise a number of corrugated sheets alternating with plain or flat sheets or alternatively there can be protrusions on the sheets, between which the passages are formed.
