Abstract

The synthetic 'U' sectioned profile (2) for forming supplementary glazing (3) to old buildings, accommodates angle bar reinforcements (5) at frame corners, and includes a monolithic hinge band (6) with jamb angle for use with pivoting shashes. The profile houses the edges of the glass pane (3), and has a continuous longitduinal rib projecting internally from each 'U' legs each rib (24, 25) being equidistant from the 'U' bar and serving both to limit pane penetration and define a cavity receiving frame corner reinforcing angle bars (5). Frame members are mitred to form corners, the frame profile including a monolithic hollow sealing bead (1) in its internal face.
