Abstract

A material forming the basis for articles for use as floor coverings, consists of a non-woven fibrous fabric, with >=1 zone extending from the surface of the fabric into its body, filled with fibres coated with a layer of hardened-off resin mixt. and >=1 zone in which the fibrous structure is completely impregnated with a hardened resin mixt. The non-woven fabric is a glass fibre web, weighing >=30 g/m2 and pref. 40-80 g/m2. Its thickness is 0.4mm and the resin mixt. used includes polyvinylchloride, together with plasticisers, stabilisers, fillings, viscosity-altering substances, volatile additives and/or pigments. One surface at least has a layer of hardened resin in contact with the zone or zones completely impregnated with resin. The arrangement prevents curling up at the edges and helps dimensional stability.
