Abstract

Device for taking samples of liquid flowing freely in a pipe comprises two containers having a common wall so the contents of one of these spills over into the other across the wall, thus forming a sheet of liquid in free fall. A mobile slot intercepts a defined fraction of this sheet. The sample gathered in by the slot (9) is pumped (13) outside the device or allowed to flow into a container (5). The two containers are cylindrical and concentric and the movement of the slot (9) is circular around a point on the axis of the two cylinders.
