Abstract

Flow regulating discs built into the spool housing of hydraulic servo valves in the region of the output ports enables control of pressure drops to avoid high erosion conditions. The valves are specifically intended to avoid high velocity flow conditions across the precision control surfaces of valves used in aircraft systems operating with fire-safe fluids of a corrosive nature. The servo valve spool is supplied with fluid over an input passage and transmits to outputs over a central relieved section in a proportional way depending upon axial position of the spool. The valve lands operate relative to passages in the outer sleeve. The passages are formed by a stack of circular discs with interconnecting orifices that are selected to provide a predetermined flow passage dependent upon the axial position of the centre spool.
