Abstract

The process for making thick layers for use as commutators in which (i) particles of V2O4 of size about 5 mu and a binder (II) of same particle size, having a glass-like crystal structure are mixed, opt. in a volatile solvent; (ii) the mixt. is treated with a prod. (III) to adjust its viscosity to the required value; (iii) the mixt. is coated onto a ceramic support by silk-screen printing, then (iv) the device is heated at about 750 degrees C in an inert atmos., is improved by using as (III) >=1 polybutene (IIIa) at 20-25% of the mixt. (IIIa) gives pastes of a suitable consistency for screening and improves the homogeneity and accuracy of positioning of the coatings.
