Abstract
The electron transparent window is intended for permitting the passage of electron images from the high vacuum space of electric discharge tubes, such as image X-ray converters. The window consists of a microchannel plate which is coated with a vacuum-tight, electron transparent foil, at least at one side. The channels of the microplate are preferably focussed at a point located in front of the plate surface. In addition to the application in X-ray image intensifier the window can be also used in recording devices for television image frames. In a television cathode-ray tube the microchannel plate forms a target for the scanning beam in conjunction with a recording drum with a surface containing electron image storage material.
