Abstract
The clamping forces of a shrunk connection are usually larger near the ends of a shrunk part than in the central region. This is due to the fact that the shaft deforms more over the central region. The proposed arrangement has the result that the clamping forces near the end regions are reduced. The bore of the part to be shrunk has a central parallel section and two tapering end sections. The degree of taper in the end sections is between 0.5 to 5 per thousand. The axial length of the cylindrical section is approx. twice the axial length of each tapered section.
