Abstract

The rock drill positioning system involves a boom, a pivoted drill arm and a drill carriage which is offset from the arm and boom and can be swivelled in relation to the arm, to carry the drill tool for longitudinal adjustment in accordance with a drilling programme. The preset positions of the drill are programmed so as to lie in an hypothetical plane at a distance from the drilled rock face. After a preset time interval the carriage is adjusted relative to the rock face, once the drill tool has been positioned appropriately. Preferably the preset positions are defined by rated values within a system of coordinates which scans the current drill bit coordinates and moves this to correct these current values in the sense of the rated values.
