Abstract

A tablet contains >=1 enzyme and polyethyleneglycol. The tablets are made by mixing the enzyme with polyethyleneglycol and pressing the mixture into tablets. Also tablets are made by adding >=1 enzyme to a solution contg. polyethylene glycol, screening the mixture, incorporating an excipient and a binder, kneading the mixture, transforming the dried product into granules, mixing the granules with a lubricant, tabletting the mixture and if desired coating the tablets with a film. Previous attempts to incorporate enzymes into tablets have resulted in loss of activity or decomposition apparently due to the compression, heating, friction etc. during tabletting. By incorporating polyethyleneglycol this deactivation is largely avoided and the tablets obtained are stable to storage.
