Abstract

A stand for a bicycle, moped or motor cycle consists of a pair of scissor arms with a plate at the bottom of each to rest on the ground. One arm is longer than the other and carries a spindle which is supported in an inverted U shaped bracket around the top, so that the arm can swing back into a retracted position alongside the cycle frame, clear of the ground. The second arm pivots on the first arm and has a curved strap projecting from it and passing through the first arm, with a spring between the end of the strap and the bracket and there is a second spring between the top of this arm and the bracket but lower down the other side of the bracket. These springs hold the scissors open and also hold the folded arms in the upper, retracted position.
