Abstract

In a device for slag removal from liq. metal flowing out of the spout of a melting furnace and into an adjacent container, between the melting furnace and the container is an inclined gutter fitted with a linear induction pump, the upper end of the gutter being located above the container whereas its lower end is located under the furnace spout; and beneath the lower end of the gutter is a slag bucket into which the slag from the molten flows. Gives continuous and complete removal of slag during the tapping of the furnace into a container without any need for a manual worker, e.g. for removal of slag by hand.
