Abstract

The heat is generated by a heater supplied with liquid fuel (15, 16) and a heat exchanger (11, 19,) is mounted in the building wall (10), so that one end (11b) is inside the building and the other (11a) outside and exposed to the heater flames. The heater is likewise mounted outside the building. The heat exchanger can have an external cowl (19) of heat-conductive material, with tubular internal cladding (12) of porous material containing a central passage, filled with fluid which evaporates when heated and condenses again on contact with a cold surface.
