Abstract
Process for sintering iron ores on machines using gases to cool the sintered product which, after ejection from the machine, is crushed and sieved to obtain the required product, the material to be re-sintered (e.g. finese, and the grid layer. Spec. a vibrating sieve forming two fractions: (a) a coarse fraction fed to a spiked roller crusher with gap width matching the sieve mesh, the crushed material then being fed into (b) the fine fraction and both subjected to further sieving to obtain the product, fines, and grid layer. In the pref. plant, the vibratoin pref. retains material above 40-100 mm, material below this size beign fed onto a conveyor. Reduces the cost of crushing and sieving because a much smaller roller crusher can be employed.
