Abstract

Process for brazing Al or Al alloy parts, esp. heat-exchanger parts, in which the parts are assembled without any play and are covered, at least in the brazing zones, witha vitreous enamel which fuses at a temp. below the m. pt of Al; the parts are then heated to a first threshold temp. (I) in a furnace, so the enamel fuses, followed by raising the temp. to a second value (II) at which the brazing alloys melt, and the temp. is maintained at level (II) for 2-6 mins, after which the parts are cooled. The enamel may be deposited directly on the base metals, or the parts may be plated with a brasing alloy and then coated with enamel. Brazing can be undertaken in air without any need for a special furnace atmos. and no washing is reqd. after brazing.
