Abstract

In a plate filter press having a frame in which movable plates covered by a filter cloth are located, a device for scraping the filter cake off the cloths is provided, which device has at least two scrapers which can be moved along the press and moved up and down in a direction parallel to the filter surface between the plates of the opened press. The novelty lies in that the scrapers can be moved by a pivot and lever arrangement through a distance at least as great as the thickness of a filter plate in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the press. The scraper is effective for filter cakes of different adhesive and cohesive characteristics, giving efficient removal of filter cake without interruption to the filter cake removal process.
