Abstract

A frame for controlling the tension of saw blades, particularly band saw blades, has a rectangular plate (1) with a slot (2) along which can slide three transverse arms. The two outer arms (3, 4) carry stops (5, 6) which engage in slots along the two ends of a semi-rigid member (9) parallel to the first plate (1). The middle arm (8) is slotted at right angles to the main slot (2) so that it can be adjusted for length, and is secured also to the semi-rigid member (9). Measuring devices (11) can be positioned between the outer edge of the latter and the saw blade (10). By adjusting the stops the curvature of the member (9) can be varied to vary the blade tension.
