Abstract

The pulse counter, particularly useful to pulses originating from radio active sources, provides an output display to total count after processing using binary techniques and a microprogram. The circuit provides for normal calculations required from such counts such as rate of pulses exponentiation, coincidence, change of scale etc. Each input sensor feeds a separate amplifier and counter, the outputs being multiplexed and fed to an arithmetic and logic unit and a random access memory and output memory the whole being controlled from a quartz clock source. A series of registers provides a 'last in first out' or vice-versa, facility, the miroporgram being based on a 16 bit instruction format.
