Abstract

The air intake pipe (9) is fitted with a throttle valve (2). The fuel is in a float chamber (5) at a constant level. A needle valve (4) allows the fuel to pass into the air passage. The differential piston (6) controls the position of the needle valve. The piston is subjected to atmospheric pressure on the underneath side through the bleed hole (8). The upper side of the piston is maintained at the pressure existing in the region above the throttle by means of the bleed hole (17) and through the buffer chamber (18). The electro magnetically operated valve (13) controls the pressure in the pipe (17) and is itself controlled by the conditions of flow in the exhaust using a gas probe (15) and a control circuit (14).
