Abstract

The compressor (15) and pneumatic control gear for the pneumatic brakes are mounted to the underside of a mounting plate (7) so that all the components of the brake supply unit are accessible for repair. The air reservoirs (12) are mounted to the upper side of the plate and are secured to a second mounting plate (4) above the reservoirs, with the two plates joined by tie bolts (6). The reservoirs thus form part of the support structure of the air brake supply unit. The unit is fitted in one module for rapid exchange/repair. The reservoirs, which do not require periodic attention, are the only parts of the unit not easily accessed.
