Abstract

The signalling lamp is used for attaching to a vehicle and for ensuring the visibility of the vehicle at the front and at the rear. These lights are designed to ensure that the reflecting sunlight does not diminish the efficiency of these signalling lights. The lamp assembly has a body (10) with the front and rear lens element (11, 12) which are arranged on opposite sides of the incandescent lamp. Each lens element has an outside cover of light absorbing material (14) in order to reduce the intensity of the light passing through the lens. The light absorbing material can be in the form of a film or it can be a layer of powder, such as an acrylic plastics powder. The lighting unit lenses can be internally covered with a Fresnel lens (13).
