Abstract
Gas generation for vehicle safety bag comprises (a) burning propellant grain to generate gas, (b) passing gas through bed of oxidiser and coolant (c) passing over heat exchange surface to cool further (d) treating with further coolant and (e) directing into bag. Coolant in each case is pref. MgCO3 and/or Na2CO3. Porous oxidiser is pref. metal (per)chlorate(s). No CO is produced in bag and gas temp. is 2000 degrees F, pref. 1400 degrees F.
