Abstract

In the thermo-printing of textiles by placing the material in face-to-face contact with a support carrying sublimable dyes then subliming the dyes so that they are transferred to the material, the textile is impregnated before the transfer with a mineral oil or paraffin, which is eliminated from the textile after the transfer. The oil or paraffin acts as a carrier for the dye which can thus penetrate throughout the whole of the fibre. Satisfactory dyeings are thus obtd. rapidly, without requiring slow or large calenders and without any problems due to different dye affinities of different types of fibre present. The process is applicable to tricots, non-wovens and carpets of natural and/or synthetic fibres.
