Abstract

Dissolved boron cpds. are removed from liquid organic medial by contacting the liquid with an insoluble solid material contg. a polyamide. The process gives excellent removal of boron cpds. from liquid org. media, e.g. down to 1-2 ppm B from a starting amt. of over 1000 ppm. Process is esp. useful for treating media resulting from use of B cpds. such as BF3 as catalyst e.g. in the polymn. of alkylenically unsatd. cpds., or in the alkylation of aromatic hydrocarbons with alkylenically unsatd. hydrocarbons. The treatment is pref. carried out with solid bed of the finely divided polyamide, and specifically a polyamide from 11-amino-undecanoic acid.
