Abstract

The braking device is mounted on a ski to avoid sliding away if the ski is no longer firmly attached to the skiboot. At least one brake arm is fitted shaped like a spade and capable of a swivel movement between a rest position when it is above the ski, providing unrestricted ski movement, and a brake position where it assures active braking located below the sole of the ski. The swivel axis (7) of the brake arm (1) extends a plane across the ski (2) and inclined towards it from above and outwards down in the direction of the longitudinal symmetrical plane (6) of the ski. The angle enclosed between the ski surface and the swivel axis (7) is between 10 and 40 deg. and preferably between 20 and 30 deg.
