Abstract

The clutch is a fluid-tight assembly connected to an engine flywheel and has a flanged hub carrying a friction disc on its rim, axially movable but non-rotatable w.r.t. the hub. A friction face on the flange is able to contact another face on the flange of a sleeve movable in the hub. These faces are engaged after the friction disc is disengaged from the rotatable clutch assembly. Disengagement is by an axially operating release plunger which pushes against a release lever to separate the friction disc. The sleeve carries a release bearing which is held against rotation along with the second friction surface. The housing shifts axially to move plunger and sleeve and engage the surfaces.
