Abstract
A muff shaped heat exchanger secured around the recirculating pipe for the oil of a hydraulic variable speed box or pump has inlet and outlet sockets located close together with a dividing plate between them so that cooling fluid will pass around almost the whole annular chamber of the muff. Inside this chamber is a set of radial baffle plates secured alternately to the inner wall and the outer wall, leaving a gap at the other end, so that a meander path is formed between them, around the annular chamber. Internal baffle plates are fitted, to form a set of side by side chambers, and the outside may carry cooling fins.
