Abstract
Polyester/fibre reinforcements or prepregs are continuously produced, using a device to feed successive protective films by a conveyor belt, an impregnant feed and mixer, a reinforcement feed, a further impregnant feed and protective film feed. The process has one or more reinforcement feeds, two or more impregnant feeds with resin oxide or hydroxide into the resin and impregnation monitoring, the impregnant is coated on the conveyor belt or reinforcement without coming into contact with it, pressure rollers are located after each reinforcement feed, a series of pressure rollers is located at a rising temp. heater and after the second protective film feed, further along is a constant-temp. heater and then a cooling device, and a continuous belt passes through the heating and cooling zones over the end prodt. and at the same speed as the conveyor belt. An improvement over doctor-applied coating, produces uniform impregnation and easily applied matl. with long storage life.
