Abstract

The metal wheel comprises an inner wheel section (4) which is welded to the profiled rim (1) by means of one seam weld. The outer edge (6) of the inner wheel is turned outwards so that it presses against the wheel rim. A moulded ridge (10) in the wheel rim is positioned to lie against one shoulder of the inner section. This forms an accurate welding run, with the two sections pressed together through the elasticity of the material. The design compensates for manufacturing tolerances. The seam also seals the space between the two sections so that no paint is trapped there during paint dipping.
