Abstract

The building is constructed from precast panels assembled in modules, with each module consisting of a rectangular horizontal slab forming the floor, vertical walls consisting of a number of identical panels and some special panels with openings for doors and windows, and a roof consisting of a number of identical panels. The panels are of conventional sandwich construction. The various modules are transported to the site and put together on conventional foundations. Because the weight of the modules is fairly low, these foundations do not have to be very deep. The panels are then assembled by slotting them together. Buildings with up to five storeys can be constructed without the need for additional reinforcement.
