Abstract

Novel acidic polypeptide fraction (I) isolated from total hepatic extract is practically free from toxicity and is prepared from total hepatic fraction, pref. that suitable for parenteral administration according to "Farmacopea Ufficiale della Republica Italian, 7th Edition" by the following process (a) chromatography on an acid ion exchange column, (b) chromatography of the eluate on a basic ion exchange column, which retains (I), (c) elution of the column with water and alkaline solutions to eliminate weakly acidic material, (d) elution with strong mineral or organic acids, (e) chromatography of the eluate by filtration on gel and elimination of the lower band by elution, and (f) dessication of lyophilisation of the eluate containing the lower band from (e).
