Abstract

Installation for the high temp. calcining of a powdered matl. comprises an exchanger head for preheating; a calcining furnace; a cooler; and upstream of the furnace, a supplementary burner fed with sec. air from the cooler. Means are provided for subjecting the sec. air to the thrust of a propellant moving at high speed. The propellant is pref. prim. air feeding the burner, or the exhaust gas leaving the furnace. The pupe carrying the sec. air from the cooler is pref. connected to a duct located between the furnace and the heat exchanger via one or two tuyeres contg. pipes for injecting the fuel, and several alternatives are described. Ensures that a large vol. of sec. air at 700-800 degrees C. obtd. from the cooler flows at high speed into the lower part of the heat-exchanger with the object of obtg. quasi-complete removal of carbonates.
