Abstract

A cutter for cutting the weft of a loom comprises a moveable blade pivotally mounted on an arm carrying a fixed blade, the moveable blade being actuated to execute a scissor action by a cam acting on a lever on which the moveable blade is mounted. The arm is pivoted about a vertical axle and feeler guides acting on the edge of the woven fabric act to move the arm about the vertical axle and align the cutter with the edge of the woven fabric, whereby to cut the weft, and produce a fringe. An accurately cut fringe is produced and the depth of the fringe can be modified.
