Abstract

The body (1) of the cutter is provided with a number of recesses spaced around its periphery, each being radial to the centre. The rear face of each recess is flat and the bottom seating of each is at a progressively reducing depth to distribute the cutting depth. The front faces of all recesses are backed off for clearance. Each tip (4) has serrated cutting edges and is held in a recess by a single wedge block (7) tightened down by a screw (8) underneath. A positioning ring (9) is provided and the cutting clearances and rakes are formed by suitable machining of the recesses.
