Abstract

This corrector for distortion in loudspeaker output power bases its design upon the fact that the power is constant if the membrane acceleration is constant over the range of audible frequencies. A comparator (c) is connected via filters (F) to the loudspeaker amplifier (A) and a loudspeaker coil-impedance simulator (v) that has an impedance equal to the static coil. In operation, variation of acceleration will be sensed as variation of coil-impedance and suitable error signals generated into an amplifier feedback loop. Filters (F, G) are included to overcome loop phase problems. This design solves the problems previously experienced such as the cost of high quality accelerometers and the bandwith limitations of bridge circuits.
