Abstract

The pump is driven from a continuously-running power source via a transmission system including a clutch controlled by a unit detecting the pressure of the liquid delivered by the pump. When this pressure is below a predetermined value, the clutch is engaged, and when above it the drive is broken. The pump can be of the constant-output type, driven from an electric motor via a reduction gear train incorporating the clutch, and having a crank for the pump drive on its output shaft. Liquid pressure can be detected by a component spring-loaded in one direction and thrust in the other by the pressure.
