Abstract

Fermentation tank, for the prodn. of methane from manure, is provided and supported on a base, it has one of its side walls in the form of a movable panel which is fitted with grips to suit the fork or lifting device in use. In a variant the panel may include a portion of the water seal as well as a part of the base. The panel is light in wt. so that it can be handled easily, it can be made from thin prestressed concrete, fibrous cement, sheet steel resistant to liq. manure or from reinforced plastic material. Hitherto tanks with a top opening have been used but while they can be filled by a tractor fitted with a front fork they have to be emptied by a manure fork mounted on a tractor.
