Abstract

The overhead parking system, intended for street use, has a pair of vertical pillars mounted alongside the pavement, with a horizontal frame onto which the vehicle is driven, and a motor driving a lifting system by means of which the vehicle and frame are raised along the pillars, so that the space underneath is left free. Stops are incorporated on the frame to hold the vehicle in position. To save power, counterweights may be used, and it is proposed to use material for the counterweights obtained from a foundry which melts down the carcases of scrap vehicles.
