Abstract

The dimension checking device is used to extend the measuring capability of one dimension of numerical inspection equipment. It consists of a base (5) which can rest on a face plate (1) and has rollers (6) to guide it along a straight edge (3). To ease movement of the device, the plate (5) has an air bearing (7). On the plate (5), there are an electronic numerical dimension checking instrument (8) and an additional unit (9) to combine the measurement of the first instrument (8) with the measurement of the displacement of the plate (5). The latter measurement is made using rotation of a gear wheel (10) on a geared rack (4). The rotation of the gear (10) produces electric pulses. The additional unit (9) has an electronic adder to combine by algebraic summation the two measurements.
