Abstract

The pipe is applicable to liquids or liquids entraining solids and esp. to vertical down pipes. The inlet to the vertical pipe (12) is inclined to the vertical. The pipe also makes a tangential entry into the vertical pipe, and not a radial one. The liquid when it enters the vertical pipe therefore follows a helical path. There is a baffle plate (2) inside the vertical down pipe which protrudes to the centre of the pipe. The centre is vertical but the outside edge is helical so forming a helical flow path. A groove marks the outside edge for location purposes.
