Abstract

A gravel washir which removes wood and vegetation, has a conveyor with a trough shaped belt, with its frame supported by adjustable members so that one end of the belt has a slight upwards slope and the other end has a slope of e.g. 30 deg. or more. The upwards travelling belt has the steep part guided over and under rollers giving it a zig-zag path, and the underneath rollers are convex faced so that the belt bulges upwards at the middle, and the material is fed towards the lower part of the belt from a chute overhead, with a water jet, and debris removed before the gravel is carried upwards, and further mud is washed out by further jets at the zig-zag region as the gravel is spread out and carried upwards for discharge at the top.
