Abstract

The solenoid actuated lock has a specially robust construction. The bolt is preferably a long slender bar made from a ferromagnetic material and the solenoid arrangement has a pair of coils which are arranged at a distance around the axis of the bar. Each solenoid acts in the opposite direction so that the bar is moved into the locked and released position. The locking bar is actuated by two enclosing solenoids. The solenoid actuated lock system has a transverse locking pin which moves at right angles to the locking bar. This transverse plug is also actuated by a solenoid. For actuating purposes the transverse plug is withdrawn by the solenoid and then the bar is able to move axially.
