Abstract

The diverter valve is fitted in a pipe carrying a fluid, either gas or liquid, and used to tap off quantities of the fluid from the pipe. The valve is inserted in a branch nozzle cast in the pipe. The valve consists of a ball (6) which can be rotated by means of a spindle controlled by a knob (8). The ball valve is sealed by two packing rings which are held in place by a bush (13) located inside the pipe. The bush is sealed at its base by a thick (4-8mm) sealing ring (20) so that no additional machining is required.
