Abstract

A fixed, pressed sheet steel brake support (10) has a slot in it to allow passage of the brake disc (12), and it has kidney-shaped cut-outs each side of the disc to accommodate the brake pads and their supports. The edges of the support cut-outs are folded inwards towards the disc (32, 34) to give sliding support to the pads (22, 26). The pad holder and cylinder assembly casting (16) is pierced with slots that key onto tenons on the support using spring clips, permitting lateral sliding motion of the assembly during braking.
